Barry Bonds casts a Giants Shadow

November 18, 2007 · Leave a Comment

It is amazing to look at how many people are now talking about Bonds and by
virtue of that the San Francisco Giants.

The trend clearly shows that the Giants reputation as evidenced by the
positive buzz score is going to take a while to get over.

Bonds was once a great asset to the Giants reputation and the team but based
on what I am reading the news being printed it has just tarnished the
reputation of this team.

That said we can hope for the Giants that the old saying holds true “There
is no such thing as bad press”

Girly team?

April 8, 2007 · 1 Comment

As well as tracking positive buzz about MLB teams (“What’s My Mojo?”), we have been running all comments through our filter for masculine / feminine use of language. Its something we developed for other sectors (politics, media) and threw into the baseball site just to see what happens.

Big news – one team has finally shown its feminine side. Check out BaseBallTendMojo and look at the Cleveland Indians. Cool !

Baseball Fans: Realists or Critics?

April 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Since we started baseballtrendmojo, we noticed two things:

  1. We need a shorter name
  2. People who blog about baseball teams typically make more negative comments than we expected.

Its surprising. when we electronically read all the postings, and check for use of (English) language, commentary is consistently negative, mainly from fans who should really be extolling the virtues of their team. So – are such people simply demonstrating how much they love the team by ripping it a new hole?

Opening Day

April 3, 2007 · 2 Comments

Opening day happens each year and yet the excitment never wanes. New player, new managers and most importantly new hope for a winning season. This year I am attending the SF Giants opening day. The giants fit the new catageory to a tee. They have a new manager, courtesy of the down south rival San Diego Padres, and a collection of new players. The greatest impact player promises to be Mr. Zito. I am looking for 20 games out of this new pitcher and hopefully a pennant. That is six months away and the focus of today is getting back to the ball parks kicking off the season!
